This product would be good for someone that is just dipping into the faith but not recommended for a seasoned believer.
This is a great study. It is meant for a class setting but I just did it on my own and loved it. I am going to use it with a Bible study group starting next month. It is not as endebth as most of Kay Arthur's studies but guides u in a way that you can decide how deep you go. Either way, there is a lot to learn.

When I received the book yesterday I found writing throughout the book, most questions already answered and the exercises completed. Not much good to me as I begin the study. Very disappointed! If this is considered Good condition I'd hate to see what Acceptable looks like! Will have to reconsider any future orders. Thanks for nothing!
Kay Arthur is a favorite author of mine and she didn't disappoint me with this book. The lessons are written for group discussion or to do by yourself, which is what I'm doing.The lessons give you new things to think about old verses and allows you to develop easy methods to adapt them to you personally to improve your relationship with God.
I taught these lessons at my local detention center. All the circling, underlining, etc. was very time consuming and made the lesson well over 40 minutes the first week. I skipped that part for the remaining lessons and it was much more efficient. Great book! The women enjoyed the lessons too

A few reviewers were not so impressed with Meacham's scholarly synthesis, especially regarding Jackson's unwavering approval of slavery, his removal of Native Americans despite the objections of the Supreme Court, and his vindictive qualities. My formal training in American History ended in high school, so I approached Meacham's book without a great deal of prior knowledge of the subject.I would say that this is not a good first book to read about Jackson. His childhood is covered in some detail, but the periods of his military career, his training as a lawyer, his term as a Tennessee congressman, are covered too briefly. Meacham states in his acknowledgment section that he has deliberately not attempted to cover Jackson entire life in detail.The eight years of Jackson's presidency are the focus of the book. The main issues that characterize Jackson's presidency: the threat of secession by South Carolina, the dissolution of the national bank, standoff with the French over the payment of reparations, expanded use of the presidential veto, etc., were covered in detail. However, as a newcomer to the subject, I sometimes could have used more context. For instance, there was not much discussion of how a national bank came to be and what the counter-arguments might have been for preserving it.On the other hand, there was (in my view) excessive detail given over infighting between some very minor characters in American history. In the acknowledgment section, Meacham explains that new information about these people had come to light since previous biographies on Jackson were published so Meacham deliberately focused on these matters.If you have read previous books on Jackson and on this period in American history, you may find some interesting new stuff in Meacham's book. But if you are a novice like myself, there must be a better book out there to start with.
Meacham is a great writer, and has overseen excellent research. While there may be better full-on biographies of Jackson, this one certainly is perhaps the best at focusing on how he changed the presidency, and Meacham makes a good case for Jackson being the first really "modern" president, who saw it as a national office, as the one person to represent all of the people. It's a little uncanny that this was written before the most recent election, and one can understand why the new President (or perhaps his advisors) are taken by Jackson: he fought against his own party almost as much as against the opposition, he was a determined nationalist, was quick to defend Anerica's "honor" (as well as his own when attacked, which was frequently). It's a good and timely read. I'd add a 5th star if there was a bit more bio of his pre-presidency life.
Jackson was never a favorite of mine, but there are things in this Pulitzer Prize-winning book of Jon Meacham’s that has me a bit more respectful of his presidency.Yes, he did break treaties and banish the Creek, Chickasaw, and Choctaw tribes to lands west of the Mississippi, fought two wars against the Seminoles, and later deported the Cherokee, all in the most gruesome manner possible. He also broke with fifty year-old precedent in the fledgling republic and took Presidential powers to new heights. And he introduced a new and raucous pioneer sensibility to the U.S.’s governance. But there are similarities to Jefferson that bear considering here.Jackson took the long view that Jefferson took in preserving the new republic and protecting it from enemies without. When France reneged on its debts to the U.S., Jackson demanded payment. When South Carolina threatened to nullify certain federal laws, particularly a tariff the slave-owning plantation owners didn’t like, he went to the brink of civil war to protect the union against such erosion. Parallel to that, he had political battles with the Northeast states over Abolition, these state issuing rumblings about secession should the U.S. continue to maintain slavery. And when he thought Nicholas Biddle was using his position as head of the National Bank to fight Jackson politically, Jackson withdrew federal money from the bank, risking economic catastrophe.Ever “The General,†Jackson fought such fights throughout his two terms in office. Meacham portrays him as a solitary sort, since Jackson’s wife, Rachel died just prior to his taking office, and Jackson never got over the loss. He did bring in family members, however, to support him emotionally and to serve politically and socially in roles necessary to his Presidency. Andrew and Emily Donelson became private secretary and White House hostess respectively to Jackson, and much of Meacham’s early tale seems rather gossipy concerning the Donelsons’ social feuds with Margaret Eaton, wife of one of Jackson’s advisors. But even here, Jackson’s aplomb under fire put oil on the intra-squabble waters.But why did Meacham win the Pulitzer for this book? I think for three reasons:He focused more on the man, his personality, and allowed that to dictate the history to which he was attached - rather than the other way around.Jackson’s efforts to resolve the nullification issue with South Carolina without bloodshed. He did in fact compromise with South Carolina in order to end this standoff peaceably.Meacham found new documents of historical significance, many of these regarding the social squabbles that haunted Jackson’s Presidency, and these added greatly to revealing Jackson the person, rather than Jackson the general, Indian fighter, and President.My rating: 17 of 20 stars
Firstly, I am a fan of Jon Meacham's writing style in general. He seems to have an agreeable way of illustrating his biographies in my opinion. I aso have always thought that Andrew Jackson was a highly underrated President and never given his just recognition in the history lessons of America. Jacksonian politics have been a widely effective and widely used political stratagem and he was one of the most influential Presidents in our history as a nation. As usual, Jon Meacham doesn't hold back. He shares the triumphs as well as the more questionable acts or attributes of his subject and I believe that is what draws me towards his work in the first place. A must read for the America history enthusiasts.

For Johnson, a sociology professor, 1950 was a banner year, marking the summer when the 10-year-old Midwest native became a fan of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League. The league lasted only 11 years (1943-1954), but interest in it was recently revived by the film A League of Their Own . Johnson warmly recalls her own days in the stands and convincingly portrays the importance of the league to young female fans, who often became "Coke girls" to their favorite players, meeting them after every game with a can of soda. Her history alternates excerpts from interviews with 26 of the women who played for the Rockford Peaches and the Fort Wayne Daisies in 1950 with newspaper accounts of that year's championship series between the two teams. Many of the players' recollections have a certain sameness, but the author's enthusiasm for her subject keeps them fresh. Former Peaches catcher Marilyn Jones contends that management insisted on the women being feminine because fans "wanted to see a bunch of girls that acted like girls, and looked like girls and played like boys." Several players were shocked to learn that they were expected to play in skirts and attend "charm school" to learn how to be more graceful; one woman claims "I learned how to be graceful by playing ball out in the pasture, side-steppin' all the cowpies!" This book, a love letter to the league and its players, vividly re-creates what being in the league was like for the players, who were "unconventional before, during and after their ball-playing days." Seven chapters recount the seven games of the exciting 1950 playoff series between the Rockford Peaches and the Fort Wayne Daisies. Fabulous book. Very well researched and well written about a unique historical period in our national history.
Great book! I love how she not only interviewed players, but she included coaches, trainers, managers, fans, etc. I would give anything to have been able to experience this first hand. It must have been incredible. My only complaint is that she only interviewed two teams, the Peaches and the Daisies. Definitely recommend this book.

While Lois Browne's "The Girls Of Summer" is perhaps the most complete history of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League, this book is the most personal account due to Ms. Johnson's own fandom of the early 1950's. It's an extremely well-done book interpolating Ms. Johnson's text with interviews of former AAGBPL players and contemporary newspaper game accounts of the 1950 league championship series. While Browne's book (and others) are a little more academic in their approach to the subject, this is the one that really gives readers the best "feel" for what it was like for women to play baseball 50-60 years ago. Parents considering buying this for their children should note that there is a little more emphasis on player sexuality in this book than the others, but that detracts little from the overall effort. I've read four or five books on the AAGPBL, and would consider this the best of them (with Browne's book a solid second).
This is a remembrance of and look at the AAGPBL through the eyes of a woman who was once a ten-year-old fan of the Rockford Peaches. That in itself is exciting for the reader to know and keep in mind. The book is organized around the seven-game championship series between the Peaches and the Fort Wayne Daisies in 1950. Each chapter includes memories, reproductions of newspaper articles, interviews with the players. There's a lot of information in this book, though there's no index through which one could easily find the information. Nonetheless, Recommended!
I feel cheated!!! I was born too late to have been an eye-witness to these remarkable women in baseball! Along with the Cooperstown recognition as well as the movie, "A League of Their Own", it is just not right that these wonderful athletes have not been given even more credit for proving to so many fans, men and women alike, that there is just cause for having a Professional Women's Baseball League today. Susan E. Johnson gives the reader the heartwarming stories of day-to-day life in the AAGPBL. She brings to life the individual women who played their hearts out whether for one season or many providing a glimpse of what it was really like to live the life of a Rockford Peach or Fort Wayne Daisie or one of dozens of other teams. Readers will end the book envious of the lives led by these remarkable women and ask why there isn't a similar league today (though a few major adjustments might be in order regarding the uniform and social rules and regulations). God Bless each and every one of these women for their contribution to the All American Girls Professional Baseball League and to Susan E. Johnson for taking the time and effort to share her stories with those of us who didn't know there really was a league of women athletes who could run circles around many of their male counterparts in baseball! Johnson provides statistics not only for individual players but for the teams in general and doesn't hesitate to compare such detail against the men's teams. There are quite a few instances when these women athletes exceed their male counterparts - a remarkable achievement in many ways but sadly not known to the general public. The reader instinctively knows the author relishes sharing the details behind the history of the AAGPBL, the managers, the fans, the women themselves as it is learned early on in the book that she was a young fan of these ball players (Rockford Peaches) and seldom missed a home game. Her enthusiasm is easily transferred to the reader. The league eventually ended in 1954 but the spirit remains alive through the continued efforts of former players and their families and fans. For anyone that enjoys the sport of baseball, that enjoys particularly the sport of Women's baseball, or for anyone really curious about the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League and the real women behind the league, you'll love this book and find yourself thirsting for more!
I just read this book, and was surprised by how moved I was by the story of the history of women's baseball! The interviews with the former players were both humorous and touching, and framed an outstanding portrait of a unique, and practically forgotten, era. I hope a lot of young women read this book, as it is quite an inspiration.

This is the first time I've ever written a review and I feel compelled to do so. There are a number of good recipes in this book and as such I have decided not to return it. I've also never returned anything to Amazon before.That being said, there are a number of issues with this cookbook that you need to know about before you buy it. First, there are no pictures. Which is fine for me, but for some people its a big deal. The other thing you need to know is that there are a lot of recopies in this book that are NOT actually Keto.Keto, by definition is fairly strict in terms of its make up. It is a high fat, low-carb with moderate amounts of protein way of eating. The typical caloric breakdown is 65%-75% healthy fats, with 15%-25% protein and 5%-10% carbs. The book even talks about this breakdown in the intro section. But then goes on to include quite a few recipes that do not meet this criteria.There are a lot of recipes in this book that based on the listed nutritional breakdown could only be described as high protein, low carb with moderate amounts of fat. And that's just not Keto.I do like a number of the recipes in the book and have decided to keep it, but if you are looking for a collection of strictly KETO recipes to make with your instant pot, this may not be for you.
Recipes are confusing to an Instant Pot owner. Many call for placing the contents in "a pan" and placing the pan into the Instant Pot. Do not own a round pan that would fit into my Instant Pot so in reviewing the recipes, have to reject them.Agree to with other reviewers that the recipes are incomplete in some cases and appear to have been copied from some other source so that they could become a part of the book. Am continuing to look for another cookbook with printing integrity. And, one that realizes that all people don't own a six or eight quart Instant Pot.
So easy to follow with the book open in the kitchen. The section on instapot basics was also very helpful for an instapot newbie like me. Oh, and the images of the food make your mouth water.
Many call for setting the substance in "a skillet" and putting the dish into the Instant Pot. I’m a Windows administrator with over 18 years experience, and have only lightly touched on Linux, by following listed instructions.This book was easy to follow, and it enlightened me to what some of those commands I’ve used actually mean and what to use around that to cement my knowledge and give me confidence on a Linux box.You won’t learn how to set up DNS or DHCP or best practices for managing multiple server environments, so I think this is a good introduction to Linux in a command line interface, and should be a great reference to moving forward in actual Linux Administration.
This baby boomer worked with and serviced Windows in medical computers for many years and have now retired. It is time for me to get serious about Linux on my personal computers and network, and to work toward dumping Microsoft. I really do want to use the GUI applications as much as possible, but I know I have to become proficient with the command line to properly use Linux. This book and others by Jason are teaching me the techniques I have to learn to get where I want to be.

A concise yet complete book about Linux Administration. I use this book along with other sources as a preparation for the Linux Foundation Certified System Administrator Certification. I find it very complete and covers most of the domains required by the certification. Furthermore the author seems to provide very consistent examples that will help administrators deal with everyday problems.
Being a Linux user for a long time, I found this book useful to learn about the indepth details of admin commands like file system creation/ mounting / monitoring etc..
