Great gift for a little princess, beginner reader on her birthday. Has many of new readers sight words. Has nice rhymes to encourage memorization. My daughter loved as a gift when she turned 5 and still reads this book now. It's cute and fun. Has a page or two for each princess and her birthday celebration. Includes Jasmine, Rapunzel, Ariel, Cinderella, Snow White, Tiana, Belle, and Aurora. All princesses have 2 pages dedicated to them except Jasmine and Tiana, they have one. Hmmmm.
This was for my 4 year old niece Birthday who can read so this book was easy to read and follow. The book celebrates all the Disney Princess birthdays. So it was perfect for my princess!
Did they revamp this book? Previous reviews complained that all the princesses had 4 dedicated pages with exception of Tiana who had only 2 (presumably due to racism). The copy I received had mostly 2 pages for each princess. Sleeping Beauty (one of my daughter's favorites) is not in here at all. Neither is Mulan or Pocahontas. It's pretty light on text so a quick read - I'm talking about 2 minutes. My daughter liked the sparkly stickers of the princesses bound into the back.
My 4 year old daughter thoroughly enjoys this book. While she cannot read, the words are short enough and LARGE enough so that she is starting to recognize them and this book is helping her learn to read. It is simple, and clear, and the pictures are evident of what is happening in the words. This helps her to try to associate words with situations. We bought this for her for her 4th birthday and she looks through it often.
The Step Into Reading Series is just terrific to encourage reading improvement in little ones. Our little granddaughter princess can't wait to read about her favorite Disney Princesses. And, a birthday story for her birthday? Perfection!
I bought this book for my niece who was turning 5. She is learning to read in school so this was a great buy for her. I am anxious to see how she likes it the next time I see her. I skimmed through the pages and it is really cute.
So cute, perfect for your new reader (and also princess birthday girls!)
Arrived in excellent condition with all the stickers intact.

This is a very good book on Truman but it may be just a bit too detailed for my purposes. Very lengthy.
I have read many of David McCullough's books, only two more to go, but this one was the absolute best. He brought Truman to life for me. He made that whole era, WW! into the Korean War come alive. Every character, every scene, was like I knew exactly what he was talking about. His love of Bess and then his daughter...his protection of the privacy of his family....his loyalty...this was the best read for me and, believe me, I loved The Great Bridge and the story of the Panama Canal...Path Between the Seas....but Truman was so very special. If you have a love of history you will enjoy this book from beginning to end and don't let the length of it discourage you from starting it because it just flies by. When I finished it I felt that I had laid to rest my very best friend. I hope you all enjoy it as much as I did.
David McCullough's Truman is a long book but well worth the read. It covers Truman's life from his ancestors on the frontier to his death and everything in between. McCullough ties the history of Truman's ancestors, childhood, family life, farm experience, business attempts, World War I military service, political life to explain what Truman did and why as President. It also delves into Truman's political campaigns on all levels, which I found truly fascinating. This really is an informative book that transformed my understanding of Harry Truman and the Truman presidency. McCullough's writing style is vivid and engaging, it really is hard to put down once you get started.I couldn't help drawing parallels between the present and the past while reading this book - particularly with the 2016 Presidential campaign and how Clinton and Trump campaigned compared to how Truman campaign and our current problems in Korea. I couldn't help contrasting the personalities of Truman and Trump, either.I highly recommend Truman; it's a fascinating, informative, well written biography of a President who was in office during a highly important, trans-formative period of United States History.
Probably everything's been said about this book that I want to say, but I have to say that I wonder how I went all these years without realizing what an engaging historian and writer Mr. McCullough is. Truman reads like a novel. As a youngster, I used to look at pictures of Truman, hear him speak, and wonder how such a seemingly drab little man could be our president. So if my husband hadn't already read and recommended the book, I probably wouldn't have even started it. But after racing through this biography -- by no means a hagiography -- I long for a candidate like Truman in the 2016 election. Moreover, it was a kind of nostalgia trip for me, since I was brought up by a father whose basic values paralleled Truman's, and many of his now old-fashioned speech mannerisms reminded me of the way people spoke when I was growing up. I'll certainly be moving on to the author's other books even if I don't think the topic would appeal to me.
I’ve been on a big presidential kick lately with the 2016 Presidential Election around a month away. So with that in mind, I will offer my thoughts on Truman. On the positive, I think he did a magnificent job covering Harry Truman as far as giving the reader the broad experience of his life before, during, and after the presidency. For my money, you can’t get any better than the sections on the events leading up to the firing of Douglas Macarthur and his defeat of Thomas Dewey in 1948.I felt like while it was a well-written biography that kept me engaged through 1000 pages, I felt like it reinforced the popular image of Harry Truman as a plain spoken man of principles who knew how to make the tough decisions and made them. While there is certainly nothing wrong with it, it felt like anything that didn’t compete was glossed over like his association with the Pendergast Machine in Missouri or the depth of his feelings for FDR, I thought this could’ve added a little more depth because many people already understand the popular perception of Harry Truman.Well written, but largely reinforcing the “popular†image of Harry Truman.
Gripping, fascinating, fair, a masterpiece. David McCullough's Truman, like all his books, took hold of me from the beginning and I didn't want to put it down. It is the biography of Truman and his time, reading like a fiction novel. That is McCullough's gift, one that I appreciate. Not only did I learn so much, I also came away with admiration for Truman, the man. At the core, Truman is a moral, brilliant, hard-working man who loves this country and does the job he has with everything in him. He is straight-forward, no-nonsense and completely dedicated to his family and his country. The decisions he had were made with full knowledge and he didn't look back from them. Once he made up his mind, he seemed at peace. Many of those decisions impacted the world going forward. So glad I read this.

UnSweetined chapter oneSPEECH IMPEDIMENT fuck it. I was tired of trying. Tired of controlling myself. Tired of caring. It was a Sunday night and my options were to sit home and get some rest for the big day I had on Monday or to go out, party, and not worry about anything. So when a friend called and asked me if I wanted to head to Hermosa Beach, I didn’t hesitate. Before I knew it I was smoking meth and doing my hair, preparing for a big night. I drove off solo with my to-go cup filled with alcohol. I never went anywhere without my to-go cup. It was a typical night of partying. I met some people at a bar in Hermosa Beach that played house music on Sundays from 2:00 p.m. until around 2:00 a.m. I was friendly with the bar’s owner so there was always a table waiting for me, and half-priced bottles for being such a good customer. From the second I walked in, it was on. Some friend gave me a hug and put Ecstasy right in my mouth. That’s how the night started. Simple as that. Coke. No problem. We were doing it right at the table. Meth wasn’t as socially acceptable so I did that at home, alone, or with a couple friends who were also using. But the coke, the Ecstasy—the party—went until closing. It almost always did. Then it was back to my place in Westchester, a Los Angeles neighborhood around the corner from LAX. It was always back to my place. Somehow the group had grown to about fifteen or twenty people. I was playing the role of after-party host. Looking back, I think I liked the control. I was always the driver, the host; it was always my show. With people waiting to party, I went into the kitchen and returned with a bottle of Jack Daniel’s in one hand, a bottle of champagne under my arm, and a big plate of coke in the other hand for all of my guests. The crowd went wild. Standing ovation. Just how I liked it. As usual the party continued into the near-daylight hours. There was still a plate of coke on the living-room table and a handful of friends—and I use that term loosely—were making themselves at home. The only problem? In seven hours I would be standing in front of a roomful of college students at Marquette University telling them how great it felt to overcome a drug addiction and how important it was to stay off drugs. I had a flight to catch and needed to be at the airport by 5:30 a.m., and at a quarter to five, I was still nose-deep in a pile of cocaine with a roomful of strangers listening to house music. And I hadn’t even packed! I was pretty good at pulling off this kind of thing. All my life I had given everyone exactly what they wanted. If Full House producers needed someone to look cute while eating Oat Boats, I smiled in my cereal. If my friends needed a house to party in, I opened my doors, supplied drugs, and broke up lines of cocaine with a credit card. And if America decided I was supposed to be a role model, I hopped on a plane, turned on my best Stephanie-Tanner-all-grown-up face-and gave a speech. So at 5:00 a.m. I threw some clothes in a bag, probably forgetting socks or toothpaste or something important, and attempted to make a clean escape. But the night of partying really left me frazzled. I came into the living room with my packed bag in hand and started shaking. I couldn’t speak. I couldn’t think. I had been up for two days straight, partying without a care in the world, and now I was starting to lose it. On the car ride I realized I was wearing a T-shirt that said “Things you shouldn’t take to the airport” with pictures of drugs, guns, and a toothpaste tube larger than three ounces. I was one for three; I was carrying a bag of cocaine because I knew I couldn’t get through the next twenty-four hours without it—and praying the stupid shirt didn’t give me away to the airport security guard. That sort of paranoia comes along with drug use. The guard searching my bag will not see the humor in my T-shirt and will look extra hard through my bags. Oh my God! What am I going to do? He did search pretty hard, but not because of the shirt. I took a deep breath and attempted to remain cool as the guard rummaged through my belongings. My friend who drove me to the airport told me I probably shouldn’t talk to anybody because at that point I couldn’t put together a complete sentence. The security guy took out my cosmetic case and asked me about every item. It took every ounce of energy I had to get out the words “lip gloss” and “mascara” without looking like a complete wreck. But I was dying inside. I thought this was it. I was going to get busted. How could I not? The guard then pulled out the compact where I kept my coke. My heart was beating through my chest. I thought for sure I was going to be arrested. And then it happened … “OK, ma’am, have a nice flight.” I was safe. I sat down at the gate and nearly broke down. What am I doing? What the hell is wrong with me? How did I become this person? If I had had that gun my shirt warned against, I probably would have blown my brains out. I was miserable …and exhausted. When I got to my hotel near Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, I slept for a few hours but when I woke up I was still dead tired. I was a mess. Luckily I had the coke to pick me back up. I did a few key bumps and headed to the lecture hall, where a sold-out crowd waited to hear me speak. I thought for sure that one of the professors would take one look at me and kick me out. But none did. They wanted to hear about the trials and tribulations of Jodie Sweetin, or at least the Jodie Sweetin I had created by appearing on Good Morning America and talking to People magazine. I stood up at the podium, looked around the room, and put on my best TV smile. I was so disappointed in myself. I was living a complete lie. But unfortunately, guilt doesn’t make you stop. I talked about growing up on television and about how great my life was now that I was sober, and then midspeech I started to cry. The crowd probably thought that the memories of hitting rock bottom were too much for me to handle. Or maybe they thought the tears were just a way for an actor to send a message that drugs are bad. I don’t know what they thought. I know what they didn’t think. They didn’t think I was coming down from a two-day bender of coke, meth, and Ecstasy and they didn’t think that I was lying to them with every sentence that came out of my mouth. That much I do know. The little bit of coke that I had done before the speech wasn’t enough to make me forget how bad I felt for doing what I was doing. The guilt was eating away at me. I was struggling to keep it together, but no one realized that. I finished. They applauded. Standing ovation. Just how I liked it. And it was over. I was just so tired. Tired of lying. Tired of pretending to be someone that I wasn’t. I took a deep breath and walked out of the lecture hall. I went back to my hotel room and buried my face in my hands. I couldn’t keep doing this. It had to end. But not today. I wiped away the tears and finished the baggie of coke. Fuck it. I’ll quit tomorrow. It had been a year since I went on Good Morning America and told the world that I was a recovered drug addict. And back then I really was recovering—or trying to, anyway. I had been sober for a few months, but I knew in the back of my mind it wasn’t over. I wasn’t ready. But the story was a good one and it landed me the speaking jobs I needed to keep my career going and the drug money rolling in. Drugs and alcohol don’t come cheap—especially when you are also buying for a group of friends who mooch off your residual checks. I didn’t put up with eight seasons of Kimmy Gibbler so they could get high! With the new income and a new house in Los Angeles it was all too easy to get right back into drugs. It started one day, just a few months after my GMA spot, when I got a random phone call from a friend who I used with and who occasionally sold me drugs. I invited her to my place. I was in an apartment at the time. I knew it was a really bad idea to invite her over but I wanted to test myself, I guess. We hung out, played cards. I told her I hadn’t done meth in a while. One thing led to another and just like that, I was back. After trying to stay sober and then relapsing a number of times, battling the decision to remain sober for a couple of months, I began to give up on myself. Then, when I moved into the house, I stopped putting in the effort altogether. “You can do this again,” I told myself about using. I wasn’t in a relationship and I didn’t have a good group of friends around me. I was frustrated and tired of trying. I had it in my head that I just wasn’t done. I was always up for any party, especially if it involved Las Vegas, but my newfound careless attitude often got in my way. I regularly lost cell phones, wallets, and other valuables. One weekend, everyone decided to head out to Vegas, but before I could leave, I had to get cash from the bank since I had misplaced my ATM card. I took out ten thousand dollars in cash to bring with me to bankroll the alcohol and drugs for everyone, as usual, and a little shopping for me. In Sin City I spent two thousand dollars on makeup and an outfit for the evening and was ready to have fun. The night brought us to various clubs and then to a blowout back at the hotel. Random people made their way in and out of my party until the sun came up. The next morning I noticed that the remaining eight thousand dollars was gone. Maybe I lost it, or maybe it was stolen. I didn’t care. Whether in Vegas or in Hollywood, people would call and ask if I had plans, and even when I had had no intention of going out, I would say, “yeah sure” and it would be off to a night on the town. Outside of the speeches, I didn’t have any responsibilities so I often blew off my family and sober friends and opted to hang out with whoever wanted to do drugs. Quickly, I was back to partying like I was at my worst, spending seven hundred dollars a week on meth, coke, and Ecstasy and another four to five thousand dollars every week or two on table service at various Hollywood hot spots. After partying, I’d head to random colleges and give speeches that were packed with lies. If during the Q & A portion someone asked me how long I had been sober, I’d say I had gotten out of rehab in April 2005, and out of sober living in October that same year. That part was true—but I was covering up my relapses. I felt terrible about what I was doing. I thought that maybe, if I kept getting up there, giving these talks, and saying I was sober enough that eventually it would happen for me: The story I was telling, with the happy ending I was creating, would somehow come true. But even with my life as messy as it was, I hadn’t really hit rock bottom yet. I was too strong to hit that sort of low. I wasn’t going to overdose, wind up in the hospital, or have any near-death scares like I did the first time around. I was too in control. It was a far cry from the cute little girl that everyone remembered from Full House—the girl everyone expected me to be for the rest of my life. I wasn’t Stephanie Tanner or the girl I was pretending to be in speeches and interviews, but I wasn’t exactly the drug addict, wild child that my friends thought I was either. I didn’t know who I was. That was the problem that may have led to my drug use in the first place, a problem that goes back as far as I can remember. …

I finished this book in 2 days and it was a good read. It gives great look inside what can happen when a wrong turn is taken after being a child star at such a young age. A few points made me question if Jodie Sweetin was trying to solicit some pity from her readers by making a excuses for the actions that happened but this book made me love her even more!
Like many others, I grew up watching Full House. And Stephanie Tanner was always my favorite. I'm right about Jodie's age, and after the show ended I wondered what happened to her. Now with Fuller House and Dancing with the Stars on, my interest in her was immediately renewed. I didn't even know she wrote a book, until I stumbled across this while “googling†her. I'm glad I found it. I loved the book. I love her and I am rooting for her. This book is primarily about Jodie's addiction to drugs and alcohol and her constant battle to overcome them. It says so on the cover and right on the first page. For those giving this book one star because “it was all about drugs and nothing else,†maybe you should read the description prior to buying. I will agree at points it seems repetitive. But that was her LIFE. This isn't a fictional story. She relapses a lot because that is part of her addiction.I've seen a lot of people write how there's not a lot of information about Full House or “juicy tidbits†about the cast. Again, I invite you to read the description prior to buying. The title doesn't even suggest anything about Full House! This is the story of Jodie's life. She does talk about Full House and she does talk about the cast and her connection to them even to this day. But Full House was not her reason for writing this book. She wrote this for herself and to tell her story of addiction. I found many things in the book interesting. I don't want to ruin anything so I won't say what, but there was a lot I didn't know about her personally. The book is very easy to read. Sweetin tells her story in the first person. I agree the writing isn't really “award winning†but I don't believe she ever intended to be a best-selling author. It's very easy to get caught up and binge read this book in one sitting. I broke it up over a few days, but found myself reading multiple chapters when I had really sat down to read only one. This book is raw. It is brutally honest. She doesn't sugar coat things. It's a sad story. At times I wanted to reach through the book, slap her and say “what are you doing?!†It's so easy for us to look at her and think she has it all. She was blessed at an early age. Why is she complaining? Why is she getting involved in this lifestyle? Why would she do this or keep going back? The answer is she's a human being just like you and me. Celebrity does make you exempt from the bad things.Addiction is something she will fight the rest of her life. I'm glad she wrote this book for herself and I hope it helped her. I'm glad she shared it with the world. She didn't have to. And it's not a publicity stunt or damage control, this book is actually a few years old. Fuller House wasn't even in production yet. I gained a lot of respect and love for Jodie. A true fan of hers hoping for nothing but the best in her future.
I had been hearing about Jodie Sweetin's meth addiction for years in the tabloids and I love drug memoirs. Being that it was my favorite character on full house I had to get it. I wasn't expecting much since she isn't a writer, but this was actually pretty well written. Its not often that I read a book in one sitting but I read this cover to cover in a few hours. There isn't much full house gossip which isn't why I bought this so that wasn't a negative for me. I would say this book is more of a triumph after over coming addiction which is exactly what made me curious about her and what makes this a great read. This was a really good book!
It truly takes an incredible measure of strength to put on display for strangers a hurtful, public story. And she didn’t do it for our benefit. As a necessary step towards total recovery, Sweetin shares her story of pain and recovery. I found myself grieving with her in so many moments in her walk.
The quality of writing is not the best, but the flow of the Jodie’s story was done in a logical way.I also appreciate that Jodie isn’t flat out telling you any one message with her story. She doesn’t hand you a take home message tied up pretty with a bow. She allows you to take bits and pieces from the various events in her life and form your own. From what makes a marriage more successful. To peer pressure. To figuring out who you are, where your place is, and what makes you happy.Jodie is wise enough to know these aren’t blanket - one size fits all - answers
I was actually really impressed with this book. I love that she really told the story, all the details. I loved to hear her story of trying to be normal, she hated being the outcast. No friends growing up. As bad as it sounds I enjoyed reading the other side of Hollywood that no one talks about. You know it exists, but it’s so hush hush. I’m so glad she made it to recovery for herself and her baby girl. Her mom sounded like an amazing woman as well.I’d highly recommend this book.
As a Full House Fan, I was so excited to see that Jodie Sweetin had wrote her own book. Her book describes the most intimate details of her life. It is not for those who are weary of drugs, alcohol, or sex because it is a real life account of her addiction and recovery. One thing that really stood out from most other memoirs about addiction, she mentions that during the books creation, she had a relapse. I've read many memoirs, none of which are as honest about his or her current issues.Overall, this book is very easy to read and will keep the reader captivated.
One of my fave books, I'm keeping it on my shelf to reread later. This book is so funny and candid. It was really interesting reading about her life. I loved reading it and couldn't wait to get to the next chapter. I had no idea she struggled that badly with drugs. It does make me wonder if she's still sober.... wishing her a lifetime of happiness. Also love the pictures of her life she put In the books album. Shea so beautiful and I enjoy watching her on Fuller House .
From the moment I started the book till the last page I felt all of the author's pain and angst. However, at the same time I could not help but admire the fact that she was wearing her heart on her sleeve and letting everyone know the truth! She was saying, you know what, I may have been a darling sweetheart on Full House, but guess what , in real life I am only human. So yeah, I messed up, not just a wee bit but big.....but in the end I straightened out and am all the better for it. If I can do it so can you!

Review
"In total, the two books Solaris Performance and Tools & Solaris Internals reviewed here present a new level of knowledge about the internals of Solaris, what they do, how they behave, and how to analyze that behavior. The books are a must for developers, system programmers, and systems administrators who work with Solaris 8, 9, or 10. They are especially useful for users of Solaris 10 and OpenSolaris because of their exploration of the new tools in those releases. These books receive my highest recommendation. "—Peter Baer Galvin, Contributing Editor, Sys Admin Magazine

"The Solaris™Internals volumes are simply the best and most comprehensive treatment of the Solaris (and OpenSolaris) Operating Environment. Any person using Solaris--in any capacity--would be remiss not to include these two new volumes in their personal library. With advanced observability tools in Solaris (like DTrace), you will more often find yourself in what was previously unchartable territory. Solaris™ Internals, Second Edition, provides us a fantastic means to be able to quickly understand these systems and further explore the Solaris architecture--especially when coupled with OpenSolaris source availability." --Jarod Jenson, chief systems architect, Aeysis "The Solaris™ Internals volumes by Jim Mauro and Richard McDougall must be on your bookshelf if you are interested in in-depth knowledge of Solaris operating system internals and architecture. As a senior Unix engineer for many years, I found the first edition of Solaris™ Internals the only fully comprehensive source for kernel developers, systems programmers, and systems administrators. The new second edition, with the companion performance and debugging book, is an indispensable reference set, containing many useful and practical explanations of Solaris and its underlying subsystems, including tools and methods for observing and analyzing any system running Solaris 10 or OpenSolaris." --Marc Strahl, senior UNIX engineer Solaris™ Performance and Tools provides comprehensive coverage of the powerful utilities bundled with Solaris 10 and OpenSolaris, including the Solaris Dynamic Tracing facility, DTrace, and the Modular Debugger, MDB. It provides a systematic approach to understanding performance and behavior, including: Analyzing CPU utilization by the kernel and applications, including reading and understanding hardware counters Process-level resource usage and profiling Disk IO behavior and analysis Memory usage at the system and application level Network performance Monitoring and profiling the kernel, and gathering kernel statistics Using DTrace providers and aggregations MDB commands and a complete MDB tutorial The Solaris™ Internals volumes make a superb reference for anyone using Solaris 10 and OpenSolaris.

After seeing Mr. Mauro speak and his host mentioned his book in glowing terms I bought it almost out of curiosity. I'm sure glad I did. This will be a must have for those who want to be "The Man" in any Solaris shop. I wouldn't recommend for any new admins or programmers as the material can get a little esoteric and the explanations are targeted at those with a little depth/experience. Very well written and topics are well demonstrated.I quickly put much of my new understanding to work on the job to great effect.
Excellent service and great reference book; will buy again!
thanks
If you need to dig into the internals of Solaris for any reason, this book is a must have, especially for the dtrace and mdb tools which are very powerful but powerfully complex. I use the book as a constant reference for mdb.I didn't rate it the highest though because it is somewhat inconsistent in the level of explanation offered. Some topics explained thoroughly and others leave one wanting a better explanation.Nevertheless, it's the only resource of it's kind.
I bought it for my company. It's really useful for performance engineer, especially for performance engineer in Sun microsystem. I'm learning.
I found this to be one of the best manuals for dtrace, iostat and mdb that I have ever seen. Not only were there good examples but there were lots of them. Why can't these people write the man pages in Solaris?
A surprisingly good book from Sun considering how poorly I think of mdb as a development tool. If you are forced to work with Solaris then this is a must have for your bookshelf.
A fantastic guidebook for mdb and dtrace.

This book has been great for me. I have really improved my game. I was having problems so took some lessons from our male pro ( no female pro at our club). This book pointed out the differences between men and women in the way we swing. What a difference it has made. I have recommended it to all my friends
Best golfing instruction book. Before you pay for ( and lose money, like I did) professional golf instructions, read this book. Or at the very least, use it with while you are receiving professional instructions, so that you can see through the BS that your golf professional is feeding you.
I've played golf a few times in my life but needed a little something to help with my confidence. I was intimidated by better golfers and Venus on the Fairway made it easy to understand the game better and help with my grip on the clubs and addressing the ball.
OMG EVERY female golfer should read this book Love you Debbie
After 15 years of playing golf i have been troubled by just about every bad habit imaginable. However, the most disturbing one was the use of my hips during the golf swing. This book advocates using the hips as a power source. It also insinuates that using the hips is some sort of new idea. Please listen to me. I was taught this same info 15 years ago and it does not work. I was taught that as a woman, our hips are wider and in order to hit a long ball the hips must be very active in the swing. All this did was lead to me casting the club and spinning out on the downswing. Using the hips is not new theory. It is an old theory thrown away years ago. Read David leadbetter or Dave Pelz or any of golf's gurus and they will tell you this is bunk. It took me years to straighten out my timing and undo the damage that this type of teaching does. The author equates using our hips to using our womb power... Oh Please! A pro once said that it amazed them that women ever learned the golf swing with all the bunk that they are taught. This book contains that bunk. Good Luck
This book addresses an oft-forgotten sector of contemporary golf: women. Although women players are no doubt a decisive force within the sport, a training and development book of this kind--for women, by women--has heretofore been lacking. Ms. Steinbach's book (clearly addressed, with witty prose, by her co-author Kathlene Bissell) provides insight and tips to the female golfer that all will find relevant to the development of their (her!) own game. For all those who have wondered "how does this apply to me?," please find here an irreverent yet completely honest approach to a wonderful sport with the female golfer in mind (yes, it does work differently for you! and BTW, it's OK!). A treat by any standards, 'Venus on the Fairway' presents an astute, and insightful, approach that is sure to help all women golfers as they seek to get beyond the club pro lessons. Great!
... Debbie approaches golf instruction from a fun, novel way that hooked my wife into reading her first golf book. She was so excited that we spent the holidays swinging clubs and planning our next trip south to try out Debbie's techniques. The boob factor was my wife's favorite section! If you have a female golf enthusiast in the family, I give this book a two thumbs up as the perfect gift.
This book took 10 strokes off my game. After reading this book, I came to realize why the lessons & practice I labored over did not show much game improvement. That is because those lessons were designed for a male physique. After reading Debbie's book and incorporating her strategies and methods into my game, my game showed significant improvement. Thanks Debbie for taking female golf instruction to a "unique" level.

Such a great book with easy to understand steps. A fresh beginner can learn easily without complication. If you've ever tried online tutorials, like YouTube, you've probably found that often, they skip very basic steps, assuming you know them already, and you get lost. These books always ensure that every single button push and step is covered so that you are able to complete a project or lesson from start to finish without getting lost. There isn't much reading to do either. Generally, they give you a paragraph or two describing the concept of what you are about to do, then the rest of the chapters are filled with step by step screenshots of how to do each thing and what your screen should look like.I love that it comes with PeachPit lessons that you can download and work as you read the book. These lessons are always fun and thorough. It covers so many topics that even experienced users can refresh and learn new tricks. It shows you multiple ways to do things so you can choose your favorite way, and each time a step is needed, it repeats how to do it, so you don't have to comb back through the book to remember how to do something.Overall just a great book, like the rest in the Classroom in a Book series!
I always wanted to make video games as a kid. I rented Creative Cloud in 2013 thiking I could just jump into Flash and do just that. I started off trying to follow youtube videos. The frustrating thing about that were that the codes were blurry and I had to pause and zoom in to copy them bit by bit. There were also moments where I got stuck and couldn't figure out how he did that. For example-making a bird flap it's wings as it was going across the screen. Then, months later,I figured out that he double clicked the window and there was an action within that action. Long story short,I've been trying to run before I learned how to crawl. That being said, when I started this book,in the first chapter alone, there were little things I never knew that add up to eventually help me with the bigger things. There are times when I say to myself, for example:"Do I really have to draw this coffee cup here when I can do it so much easier in Illustrator, then import it here?" But as I patiently take it step by step,I also find in some of the small steps I learn things I never knew before. I'm only on chapter 2 ,but have already learned a lot to the point where I love it!I also bought "How to cheat in Flash CC" which looks really good too(probably for the more advanced users that already know Flash, which hopefully will be me by the time I read this book). Not only that,if I get stuck in the future,I just go back in book form to read what I'd forgotten. Coupled with my "Adobe After Effects CC in a classroom" book,I hope to know a lot more than I did before purchasing these. Which I'm sure I definitely will!
The first six chapters focus on Flash for video - which is pointless and it amazes me that they even include it. After Effects is supremely better for those purposes. Flash's purpose these days is to quickly create content for interaction design - which is what it excels at.If you've got a basic foundation for animating, you won't be impressed. I would recommend "How To Cheat in Flash CC" by Chris Georgenes (http://www.amazon.com/How-Cheat-Adobe-Flash-Animation/dp/0240525914/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1426086644&sr=1-1&keywords=how+to+cheat+in+flash+cc) Which provides a great system of individual techniques and is much better for reference.
I buy these books every time I get an Adobe Creative Suite upgrade. Learning the software has never been easier. They come with files and detailed instructions for learning your way through the software.
It is average as far as learning the concepts. To me they don't go in depth enough on the key factors of the software. I had to purchase it for school so that's why I bought it. Some of the Classroom in a Book series are better than others but with this one I was not too impressed.
This is a great book for people who need to learn Adobe Flash. I use this in a high school course to teach 9th-12th graders how to use Flash. It starts out for the beginner and gets better once you go through some of the chapters. I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to learn Flash or get better with the program. If you already know how to use Flash then this book would not be very helpful to you.
Did the job, got me through class and provided me with the info I needed.
